Sofía Galazzo Takes on the Role of Port Operations Manager in San Nicolás and Envisions a New Stage of Growth at AGUNSA
With a career marked by commitment, curiosity, and a passion for the industry, Sofía Galazzo has recently taken on the role of Port Operations Manager at AGUNSA in San Nicolás, Argentina. Her appointment represents an important milestone in her professional development and reflects the emergence of a new generation of leadership within the port sector.
At 29 years old, Sofía has already accumulated six years of experience in the industry. She began her professional journey while still completing her university studies, working as an intern in metallurgical companies and participating in a variety of production processes related to wire manufacturing, steelmaking, and maintenance operations.
Sofía joined AGUNSA in October 2024 in the Management Control area, where she worked as an analyst. From that position, she gained a comprehensive understanding of the business, becoming familiar with performance indicators, budgets, operational standards, and management processes. This experience enabled her to develop a strategic perspective that now complements her new challenge of leading port operations.
“This gave me a broader understanding of the Ternium contract and now allows me to contribute to the operational area from a management perspective,” says Galazzo.

For Sofía, this promotion represents a significant opportunity for both professional and personal growth. As a result, she received the news with enthusiasm and motivation, fully aware of the challenges involved in taking on a leadership position within a port operation.
Among the strengths she identifies as key to her development are her positive attitude, passion for the industry, curiosity in the face of new challenges, and strong interpersonal skills.
“I am very motivated and excited about everything that lies ahead. This is a great opportunity to continue learning, contribute from a new role, and grow professionally,” she says.
At this new stage, Sofía has a clear vision of the challenges facing the San Nicolás operation. Among her main objectives are strengthening the efficiency and productivity of current contracts while driving new business opportunities that will expand AGUNSA’s market presence.
In this regard, her approach is closely linked to one of the aspects of the industry she is most passionate about: the continuous pursuit of process improvement.
“I am passionate about the port sector because of its ability to connect global markets and drive industrial development. My main professional motivation is the constant pursuit of efficiency and continuous improvement in every operational process,” she explains.

Sofía’s story also reflects the growing participation of women in traditionally male-dominated industries such as logistics and port operations. Based on her experience, she believes it is essential to continue creating spaces and opportunities that contribute to greater diversity within organizations.
“Our position as women in the industry is key to society’s development. We create more employment opportunities, demonstrate that work has no barriers, and our presence enriches and diversifies the workplace. Talent has no gender,” she emphasizes.
“Keep working hard and pursuing your dreams because they do come true,” is Sofía’s message to the new generations of women seeking to build careers in logistics, ports, or operations.
Looking ahead, Sofía aims to continue strengthening her technical expertise while developing new competencies related to people management, negotiation, conflict resolution, and team leadership.
With energy, determination, and a strong focus on continuous improvement, Sofía begins this new chapter leading AGUNSA’s port operations in San Nicolás, contributing to the company’s growth and demonstrating that leadership, capability, and talent know no limits.
